11th EAPC Congress |
Vienna, 7th - 10th
May 2009 |
|

During 7th-10th
May 2009, Vienna hosted the 11th
EAPC Congress. The Congress motto was
"Committed to people". It gathered a
record number of participants from all
continents. The Congress was
ceremonially opened by HRH Silvia, Queen
of Sweden who gave an emotion-filled
speech encouraging all attendants to
continue with their remarkable work.
During the Congress the participants had
the opportunity to take part in six
plenary sessions, numerous parallel
sessions, workshops and meetings with
experts in this domain and by doing so
to learn about new areas in palliative
care and exchange their experiences in
this field. In addition, 900 posters
were presented. For the BEL hospice
team, coming from a country where
palliative care is in its beginning,
there was particular interest in
subjects regarding the organisation of
palliative care in other countries and
the way they carry out education
programmes in this area. |
