Nurse Education Conference |
Budapest, Hungary
29th - 30th
June 2009 |
|

The Open Society
Institute from New York, USA, organised
the "Patient Advocacy Seminar" in
Budapest, Hungary from 29th-30th
June. Professionals dealing with cancer,
palliative care and pain, as well as
representatives from different patients’
groups from eight European countries
were invited. Lecturers and experts from
the USA, UK and other invited countries
spoke about their experiences regarding
patients' advocacy and about their
successful campaigns that contributed to
successfully changing policy, better
opioid availability and public awareness
regarding palliative care. During the
two day event, seminar participants
learnt that being an expert in their own
field does not mean much for patients
rights, unless we also have proper
knowledge and skills on being good
advocates. Serbia sent six participants
to the event. |
