feb 2, 2018Advocacy, Conferences, Projects

On February the 1st 2018, a meeting dedicated to innovative approaches in the implementation of social care services in the Republic of Serbia, within the project „Support to the Development of Regulatory Mechanisms of Social Protection“ and financed by European Union, was held in the premises of the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs. Director of BELhospice Center, Vera Madžgalj and Head of the Palliative Care Service, social worker Mijodrag Bogićević attended this event.

The meeting gathered representatives of organizations that are implementing social protection projects, as well as experts and representatives of relevant institutions. The aim of this meeting was to contribute to the improvement of the knowledge of stakeholders on innovative approaches and mechanisms necessary for further development of social protection services in the Republic of Serbia.

The meeting opened a very good discussion involving a large number of participants where it was concluded that the Law on Social Protection has greatly improved the system of social protection in Serbia, through the innovative services and standards for its licensing still needs improvement in order to enable further recognition of specifics and require further system development. As a special challenge, we emphasize the need for integrating social and health services and multispectral cooperation.  The specific issue of non-existence of by-laws or regulations, specifically to multidisciplinary services and holistic approach  was highlighted.

Innovative approaches

BELhospice centre is grateful for given opportunity to participate at this meeting and support from the participants on our way to further implement Hospice innovative services and incorporate them within the legal system.
