The local governments of Uzice and Prijepolje was extremely thankful to the donor, GIZ, and BELhospice for the initiative of the creation of the Local Action Plan for development of Palliative Care in these municipalities.
As a first step in the process of the creation of the Local Action Plan, workshops were held on 29 July 2021 in Uzice and on 30 July 2021 in Prijepolje with the aim of mapping current services, identifying current potential and needs for future development of health and social care institutions and community service providers to be able to meet the growing need for improvement of palliative care in these municipalities.
A wide range of actors from social and health care institutions and CSOs participated in great measure at the workshops and expressed their opinions on the situation regarding beneficiary needs vs existing barriers and capacities of the stakeholders.
The outcomes of these workshops will be used to translate identified needs into the activities of the Action Plans for development of Palliative Care in the municipalities of Uzice and Prijepolje to enable better quality of life for citizens from the most vulnerable groups, patients facing life limiting prognosis and their family members.
These activities are conducted within the project “Strengthening effectiveness of local governments and social care practitioners to meet the needs of vulnerable population and respond better to COVID-19 pandemic and beyond” – suppored by the German-Serbian Development Cooperation project “Social Services for Vulnerable groups” and implemented by GIZ.
