The Norwegian residence in Belgrade was packed with representatives of civil society organisations from Serbia and Montenegro, who gathered on July 14 for the grant announcement ceremony under the project “Strengthening Civil Society Phase III”. BELhospice was one of 18 CSOs that was awarded with this grant.
A total of 18 grants, out of 501 applications, were awarded under this call, which aims to finance the functioning of civil society organisations in their work through so-called core funding, thus enabling them to develop their missions further by covering a portion of organisational development and running costs. As mentioned during the ceremony, all these organisations have managed to demonstrate, in a clear and unambiguous manner, their achievements so far in the field of rule of law, fight against corruption, contributions to environmental protection or assistance to vulnerable groups, as well as their realistic and feasible plans for future work.
Mr. Nils Ragnar Kamsvåg, Norwegian ambassador in Belgrade, said that these are one-year long grants, with a possibility of extension to up to 3 years, should they pass the evaluation process. The total amount awarded to CSOs in Serbia and Montenegro under this grant scheme is 1,065,000 EUR.
BELhospice was awarded with grant of 54,600 Euro which will be used to run a project to improve the services of palliative care for terminally ill cancer patients.
