On Friday, December 9th cheerful atmosphere prevailed at the BELhospice centre. We celebrated the International Volunteer Day, observed on 5th December all around the world. We completed the current year, ready for the challenges that lie ahead. All the employees expressed their enormous appreciation and admiration to a great part of our team, namely BELhospice volunteers. These are individuals who enthusiastically fight for the mission and vision of our centre: quality palliative care for terminal cancer patients and for the construction and opening of the first in-patient hospice in Serbia.
Without volunteers, our mission would simply be impossible. They inspire our team and the patients they visit, as well as the participants of all our charity events. Their openness to others, to different, their dedication and determination, their responsibility and spirit of innovation are a more beautiful side of our society.
Volunteering has a special place and significance in a society. Through active participation in processes that induce change both within a society and individual lives of others. As a motivation for the surrounding and as an incentive to raise awareness about certain challenges and problems that the system and institutions do not recognize. Volunteering shows that nobody is too busy to help others or to dedicate their time and effort to institute positive changes in their milieu. It also points up the feeling of mutuality and belonging to a community, but also responsibility for it.
This year, we are very proud that a great number of volunteers selflessly provided support to BELhospice centre in many different ways: from visiting patients and participating in charity and fundraising activities, to service support.
Traditional certificates of appreciation were awarded to volunteers whose involvement was significant in the previous period. They are: Jasmina Stojić, Dušanka Dragović, Helena Grbić, Miljana Dinčić, Zlata Kopčok, Teodora Nestorović, Biljana Marković, Gordana Ristović, Marija Đorđević, Jelena Vujović, Biljana Grbić, Ivana Janković, Ivana Juzbašić, Iva Kocić, Uroš Kanački, Maja Stevanović, Gordana Prodanović, Jovana Radić, Aleksandar Vukićević, Darija Zečević, Aleksandra Jeremić, Milana Bašaragin i Srđan Petrovski.
It is our great honour to be able to cooperate with all the volunteers that enhance lives of both ourselves and our patients and their families. We are proud of our joint achievements and progress! Once again we want to thank all our dear volunteers for being there for BELhospice wholeheartedly.
