Leo D’aes, Belgium Ambassador to Serbia and Chairman of the Honorary Patrons Committee for the hospice campaign, together with the Head of Zvezdara Municipality Miloš Ignjatović, has signed today Cooperation Protocol for the project of building the first inpatient hospice in Serbia, which will be located on the territory of Zvezdara Municipality, at the address Dvadesetog oktobra 14. City Municipality Zvezdara supported BELhospice campaign, providing all the necessary technical support in preparation of documentation and following procedures in order to start the works at the beginning of 2017.
Head of the Municipality, Miloš Ignjatović said: „City Municipality Zvezdara has recognised the importance of building this centre and it is our great honour to support this initiative as well as provide necessary help, since Zvezdara Municipality is dedicated to meeting social needs of its citizens, while being aware of the fact that the need for palliative care of cancer patients is increasing every year and that these patients are one of the most vulnerable social groups. We hope that big number of donors will join the capital appeal and that this will be only the first inpatient hospice in a row that will serve as an example for other cities in Serbia“.
