The eighth volunteer training course was successfully completed by twenty-four people interested in becoming volunteers with the BELhospice center. The participants had the opportunity, over the course of four days, to gain a basic knowledge of the history, principles and goals of palliative care, fundraising, the medical, social, psychological and spiritual aspects of palliative care, the role and significance of volunteers, as well as to view several educational films.

During the course the participants showed a high level of motivation and interest in the subjects they were hearing about, i.e. the challenges of future volunteer work. On the basis of evaluation reports, we are happy to say that the lecturers, and the training as a whole, received the highest marks. The participants were especially favorably impressed by lectures on spiritual subjects, that is to say, the lecture of our associate, theologian Jovan Blagojević.

We are happy that the BELhospice volunteer service will become even stronger, not only in numbers, but also because it will be joined by new, altruistic people who will, through their engagement in all three aspects of volunteer work, share their time with patients, provide respite for members of their families, or contribute to the fundraising team and the organisation as a whole.
