The Charitable Five-a-Side Football and Basketball Tournament, the longest-running charity event organised by BELhospice, took place this weekend at the Football Association of Serbia Sports Centre in Stara Pazova.
The tournament, which continues to grow year after year, both in the number of participants and the energy it brings, once again showed that solidarity and sport go hand in hand.
On Saturday, 6 June, teams from different industries gathered at the FAS Sports Centre, brought together by one common goal: to support BELhospice and the patients for whom our support means so much. The competing teams were NIS, Frikom, Cetin, Brose, Makler, Apatinska Pivara, Belgrade Airport, Roche, Balkan Bet and Karanović & Partners.
In the five-a-side football tournament, Belgrade Airport took first place, followed by Frikom in second and NIS in third. In basketball, the trophy went to Balkan Bet, ahead of NIS and Karanović & Partners. Mateja Bubanj received the award for top scorer in the football tournament, while Uroš Milanović was named the best three-point shooter.
A day like this would not have been possible without everyone who supported it. We would particularly like to thank our sponsors, NIS and Frikom, for their generous support in organising the event. We would also like to thank our partners: the FAS Sports Centre Stara Pazova, Coca-Cola Hellenic, Sport Vision, Veolia and its volunteers, Fabrika fotografa, Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Health Centre and Biznis IT Liga. A big thank you to all the teams and individuals who helped make the day a success.

This year’s tournament raised EUR 19,500. After covering the organisational costs of the event, all remaining funds will be used to support the palliative care of adult oncology patients and children with serious illnesses and life-limiting conditions who receive BELhospice services free of charge.
The BELhospice Charitable Five-a-Side Football and Basketball Tournament is more than an event that brings together sporting competition and the corporate community. Over the years, it has become a tradition that we are proud to continue together with socially responsible companies from Serbia. It is also a day that reminds us that making palliative care accessible is not solely the responsibility of the relevant institutions – above all, it is a shared responsibility. We are proud of every team that took to the court and pitch, and of everyone who stood beside them.
See you next year. Because, ultimately, everything we do – on and off the field – contributes to building a community in which no one has to go through illness alone.
