Palliative care for children
BELhospice center is here to help children who need palliative care.
These are children who, in most cases, have a serious, life-threatening disease or condition.
Our service “Hospice in the home” is available in Belgrade and includes home visits by a multidisciplinary team, in order to ensure the highest possible quality of life for the sick child and his entire family.
“Hospice in the home” for children is an innovative service, because visits in the form of home care for children suffering from life-limiting diseases are not provided in Serbia.
Our service allows children to stay in their familiar and comfortable environment, and it is implemented in close cooperation with partners Institute for Mother and Child Dr. Vukan Čupić and the National Organization for Rare Diseases of Serbia (NORBS).
This pilot project was supported for a period of one year by BELhospice partners Hospices of Hope and the James Tudor Foundation during 2022.
In cooperation with pediatric doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, a psychologist and a social worker, in 2022, BELhospice cared for 20 children suffering from life-limiting diseases, as well as their parents, at home.
