Nurses in palliative care

Palliative care nurses perform a number of key tasks to ensure an improvement in the quality of life of patients and their families.

Our nurse Ljubica reveals for you what it actually means and what a day of our nurses looks like on site:

“When I arrive at the beneficiary’s family home, my activities include medical care, controlling nausea, anxiety and other symptoms. In addition, I provide emotional support to patients and their families with adequate advice on care, hygiene, comfort and nutrition.

I work closely with other team members, including physicians, social workers and psychologists, to ensure a comprehensive approach to care. In addition, we collect detailed information about the disease, prognosis, treatment options and expectations, including discussion of advance directives, patient wishes and grieving support, to ensure continuity and quality care. “It’s not easy, but I always find joy in my work, because I know that I have helped someone overcome difficult moments” – points out our sister Ljubica Kostić.
