Help that brings smiles back to faces
The Balkan Bet Foundation presented a donation to the BELhospice center from Belgrade, which provides free palliative care to adult patients with oncological diseases and children with life-threatening diseases and conditions. This was the third in a series of socially responsible activities that the Foundation will implement in cooperation with the Olympic Committee of Serbia during the Olympic year. On behalf of the Balkan Bet Foundation, the check was handed over by Serbian Judo representative Marica Perišić, a member of the Serbian team at the Olympic Games in Paris.
The importance of the donation for the work of the BELhospice center was discussed by Dr. Aleksandra Marjanović, executive director of BELhospice centre, who said: “This significant donation will contribute to the BELhospice center continuing to improve its palliative care services, but it will also bring smiles to the faces of the users of our services. The largest part of the funds of this donation will be used as part of our traditional campaign “Fulfill a wish – change your life” for the purchase of New Year’s packages for all the children we care for, and the remaining part for palliative care services for children. We thank the Balkan Bet Foundation for their generous support and selfless contribution, which will improve the quality of life of the children in our care.”
Judoka Marica Perišić, a member of the Olympic team that will represent Serbia at the Olympic Games in Paris, presented the donor check on behalf of the Balkan Bet Foundation and said: “I am happy to have the opportunity to support this socially responsible initiative that aims to improve the quality of life of children and adults suffering from the most serious diseases. As a judoka, I learned that strength is not only in physical endurance, but also in the spirit of community and concern for others. On my way to the top of the sport, I learned how important it is to support those who are facing challenges, regardless of whether they are sports, health or life challenges. I would like to thank the Olympic Committee of Serbia and the Balkan Bet Foundation for inviting me to participate in this noble action, as well as the staff of the Center for Palliative Care who provide immense care and support to patients and their families every day. Let this donation be just the beginning of our joint journey towards creating a better world, a world in which every child and adult will have access to quality health care and support in the most difficult moments”.
“The donation of the Balkan Bet Foundation goes into the right hands, because it enables the continuity of the work of the center, which helps small and large patients suffering from serious diseases and their families. I am proud to say that this is not the first time we have sent help to the BELhospice center. This year alone, in addition to this donation, we are participating in two more humanitarian activities organized by the center, in which our employees are also involved. Symbolically, the check was handed over by a member of the national team in martial arts, which means that we support all small and large fighters and that this is a fight that must not stop and in which everyone is a winner,” said Jelena Stančić, corporate communications manager of the Balkan Bet company.
Through this socially responsible activity, which was carried out by the Balkan Bet Foundation in cooperation with the Olympic Committee of Serbia, one of the goals of Olympic education, the formation of moral character, was promoted and support was given to the action of the BELhospice center “Fulfill your wish – change your life”. In addition to the fact that the donation will enable the purchase of special glasses for a small user, Matija, whose health problem has no adequate medicine, his great desire to watch a basketball game of his favorite club together with his family will be fulfilled.
